If this home looks like it’s an Italian villa, that’s because its owners added everything from marble window columns to hand-painted ceiling murals by artists flown in from Italy. According to the Wall Street Journal, Carmelo Giuffre, a Sicilian immigrant and the CEO of a group of 21 local auto dealerships, and his wife bought the Bay Ridge home in 1983 and completely decked it out in opulent finishes and ornate furnishings. In addition to the 10,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom home, there’s a 50-foot pool with a water slide, a full outdoor kitchen and bar, and landscaped grounds that include a fountain and gazebo. The amazing property has just come back on the market asking $11,200,000 (h/t CityRealty).

When it was last listed in 2018 for $15 million, the owners’ son John Giuffre told the Wall Street Journal that his parents “brought artisans from Italy to paint murals depicting classical scenes on the ceilings and lay marble for the window sills and latticed balconies” and that “the woodwork and the fabrics covering the walls were imported from Italy.”

This is all on view throughout the main floor, where you’ll find bookmarked stone flooring, wood-burning onyx fireplaces, and hand-painted ceilings. On this floor, there’s a foyer, an entry gallery, the formal living room, a library, a formal dining room, an eat-in kitchen, a butler’s pantry, and a breakfast room.

Also on the first floor are two solariums, one overlooking the garden and one the backyard.

Up a marble staircase, the second floor holds four bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and white bookmarked marble flooring. This includes the master suite, which boasts a pink marble fireplace, an elaborate bathroom with a sauna, steam shower, and jacuzzi, a room-sized walk-in closet, and a dressing room with a wrap-around terrace. There are also two additional terraces on this floor.

The third floor holds three more bedrooms, two sky-lit sitting rooms, a den, and a kitchenette. From here, you can really take in those Verrazano Bridge views. There’s also a finished basement where you’ll find a family room, rec room, dining room, second kitchen, gym, wine cellar, and even an indoor fountain.

Detached from the main house is a two-car garage with an adjacent pool dressing room and bathroom. A patio off the garage is where the outdoor kitchen was built. Surrounding the gunite pool is plenty of space for seating and lounging (and a waterslide!).

The entire property is about half an acre and is surrounded by a stone wall for privacy off busy Shore Road.
