We recently mentioned south Park Slope‘s coveted Ansonia Court at 420 12th Street when we featured a compact loft in the Carroll Gardens Mill Building. The two are somewhat similar on the outside; this former clock factory is also a converted industrial building in a neighborhood of pre-war apartments and row houses. But this two-bedroom co-op is far from small. It could easily be converted to three bedrooms, and its four-rooms-on-paper have outsized proportions.
The home’s current owner has made a colorful home in the high-ceilinged, brick-and-window lined loft, but whether quirky, minimalist or rustic, the original factory construction wouldn’t go unnoticed.
Eleven factory-sized windows and soaring ceilings frame this big-boned loft in the former Ansonia Clock Company factory. Painted brick and colorful accent walls keep the eclectic and art-filled decor in check while adding even more interesting places to look.
An oversized living room stretches below an elevated dining area.
The home’s indestructible-looking contemporary kitchen is outfitted with granite counters, a SubZero refrigerator, DCS stove and a Bosch dishwasher.
A spacious corner master suite offers an equally spacious, equally quirky master bath–either bedroom or living room are large enough to fill in for a three-bedroom conversion, and we assume the second bedroom is being used as a sizable media room here.
There’s even room in the foyer for an office nook.
Ansonia Court’s park-like courtyard is a Brooklyn oasis with flowering pear trees, benches and a fountain; a much larger urban oasis, Prospect Park, is a mere two blocks away, as near as the neighborhood’s fine dining, shopping and celebrated community life.
