As we slowly make our way toward spending time out there among our fellow New Yorkers, Rockefeller Center is hosting a new way to celebrate spring. Star Party at Top of the Rock will be the first-ever overnight musical experience at the famous skyline-view venue, held in celebration of the spring equinox as the evening of March 19 becomes March 20. The first of a new quarterly series offers a small audience the opportunity to experience all-night meditation and ambient sound against the sparkle of the city skyline.
Star Party events will coincide with seasonal equinoxes and solstices, which seems like a stellar excuse to throw a sleepover at the famed observation spot, surrounded by 360-degree skyline views from the 67th to 70th floors of 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
The inaugural event, curated by RVNG Intl., will feature an 8-hour durational performance by Emily Sprague, songwriter for indie-folk group Florist and composer of long-form sonic explorations.
Guests can chill, sleep, meditate, and enjoy the sound journey against the backdrop of the city’s skyline as it moves from night sky to sunrise. The $75 ticket price includes a goodie bag with event merch, snacks and refreshments (alcohol won’t be served or permitted)–and bagels and coffee will be served in the morning. Doors open on March 19 at 10:30 p.m.; the performance will happen from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. You can find more information and buy tickets here.
