The longtime Westchester home of André Leon Talley, the larger-than-life former Vogue creative director and fashion-world influencer who died in 2022, has just been listed for $1,250,000. According to the New York Times, Talley, who was the first Black creative director at Vogue, considered the White Plains property his “sanctuary” from rough-and-tumble city life. The home is currently owned by an LLC created by the designer–and longtime friend–Diane von Furstenberg to assure that Talley wouldn’t lose the property after an ownership dispute. At the end of a long private drive, the classic four-bedroom 1854 home on one-and-a-half acres reminded Talley of the estates in his native city of Durham, North Carolina.

The 3,600-square-foot home is both well-preserved and updated, including original leaded windows, Dutch doors, wide plank hardwood floors, and a beamed ceiling in the living room.

These pillows are designed to never trap heat, so they prevent your body from overheating. Using AirScape foam, which has hundreds of perforations, air continues to circulate, resulting in a cool sleep experience. The pillow’s cover is also cool to the touch. In addition, the pillow is huggable and supportive.

Can a towel set help you sleep better in the heat? It can when it’s made of bamboo, is 3 degrees cooler than cotton and twice as soft – in addition to being odor and allergy resistant. So taking a shower before bed can help put you in the right mood. The ultra-plush, highly absorbent towel set is available in harbor gray, stone, onyx, blue lagoon, ocean mist, blush, and white.

This 100% linen sheet set is temperature- regulating, moisture-wicking, and ultra-breathable, and it can fit deep pocket mattresses up to 16 inches deep. The machine washable sheets are available in four color choices: natural, blue, gray, and white.

Another option to stay cool at night, this sheet set is buttery soft and smooth, but also uses Dri-Tec engineering to be temperature-balancing. The sheets wick moisture from your skin and then it quickly evaporates so you remain dry. The sheet set is available in light gray, dusty rose, pearl gray, gray, white, champagne, medium beige, blush, and forest green.

Some people like to sleep under the covers even when it’s hot. If you fall in that category, this lightweight down alternative duvet has a TENCEL Lyocell fiber shell (a breathable fiber made from sustainably sourced wood pulp), that prevents overheating. However, the 100% recycled polyester fill mimics the luxurious feel of down, providing the best of both worlds.

Though a worthy blank slate for a new owner’s creativity and needs, the home bears touches of the fashion icon’s dashing elegance in the form of leopard-print carpets and capacious closet space.

The living and dining rooms are anchored by wood-burning fireplaces. These entertaining and gathering spaces are lined with windows and exit to the home’s breathtaking landscaped grounds.

A huge kitchen may need an update, but it holds an unusual bounty of space. A windowed informal dining room offers plenty of options for large gatherings or family life.

Upstairs in the primary wing, we can see the famous fashionista’s flair. The leopard-lined office is possibly the most charming room in the house. A huge bedroom is fit for an icon, and, of course, the closet is sufficient for a collector.

Additional bedrooms are charming and low-key, befitting a country sanctuary minutes from Manhattan. A mix of old and new provides both charm and comfort.

The home’s sturdy brick chimney is decorative and historic. The beautifully landscaped yard is planted with mature trees and a verdant lawn. According to the Times, a portion of the street beyond was renamed Honorary André Leon Talley Way last fall.
