$4.2M penthouse condo sets sale record in Hoboken

A penthouse at the Hudson Tea Building at 1500 Hudson Street has set a new record for Hoboken, New Jersey condo sales. The three-bedroom, three-bath home just sold for $4.2 million, the city's priciest condo sale ever. The newly-renovated loft–a two-unit combo–spans 2,820 square feet with direct New York City skyline views in three directions. A previous Hoboken record was held by Eli Manning's 2018 sale in the same building. The Giants quarterback sold his three-bedroom pad in the waterfront loft building for $3.55 million.

It is the most expensive listing currently in New York City, and if it fetches the asking price, it would become the second-biggest sale in the city's history and set a record with its $20,500 per square foot price tag. As 6sqft reported last month, the 96th-floor unit is currently owned by billionaire Saudi real estate developer Fawaz Alhokair, who bought the apartment for only $88 million in 2016. Listed with Ryan Serhant, founder and CEO of SERHANT., the unit spans 8,225 square feet and has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as well as 240 linear feet of glass windows. The home is being sold with all of its art and furniture, which includes pieces from Hermes, Fendi, and Bentley.

Bette Midler has sold her massive Upper East Side penthouse, which was last listed for $50 million. The entertainer and her husband, Martin von Haselberg, first bought the 14-room triplex at 1125 Fifth Avenue in the late 1990s, according to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the sale. Taking up the top three levels of the Emery Roth-designed co-op, the residence measures 7,000 square feet with an additional 3,000 square feet of outdoor terraces.
