Popular Italian restaurant Rosemary’s has a new location in Stuyvesant Town

The West Village's popular Italian restaurant Rosemary's opened a second NYC location in Stuyvesant Town today. Rosemary's opened on Greenwich Avenue in 2012 and quickly became a neighborhood favorite due in part to its rooftop garden that provides produce for the menu. The huge new outpost, at 350 First Avenue at East 20th Street, will have a 120- seat dining room, 50-person wine bar, 30-seat private dining room, and a 100-seat sidewalk cafe overlooking a planned community garden.

Bette Midler sells palatial Upper East Side penthouse last listed for $50M

Bette Midler has sold her massive Upper East Side penthouse, which was last listed for $50 million. The entertainer and her husband, Martin von Haselberg, first bought the 14-room triplex at 1125 Fifth Avenue in the late 1990s, according to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the sale. Taking up the top three levels of the Emery Roth-designed co-op, the residence measures 7,000 square feet with an additional 3,000 square feet of outdoor terraces.

Affordable, no-fee luxury rentals in Midtown West

With its rooftop garden and courtyard, luxury residences, and prime Hell's Kitchen location, Gotham West ticks off all the boxes. What makes the four-building complex truly stand out against other amenity-rich developments, other than its proximity to both Hudson River Park and the culinary darlings of the neighborhood, is its affordable housing. A housing lottery launched on Monday for 494 affordable apartments at a sprawling development in the South Bronx. Two buildings of the five-building complex La Central are now accepting applications for the units, which range from $395/month studios to $2,689/month four-bedrooms. The rentals, located at 556 and 600 Bergen Avenue, contain a 50,000-square-foot YMCA, GrowNYC-operated rooftop gardens, and ground-floor retail. New Yorkers earning 30, 40, 50, 60, and 130 percent of the area median income can apply for the apartments.

The 14-room penthouse occupying the top three floors of one of Fifth Avenue's finest prewar co-op buildings is simply divine. This should come as no surprise–the 7,000-square-foot triplex with 3,000 square feet of landscaped terrace and Central Park and skyline views at 1125 Fifth Avenue belongs to Bette Midler. The lottery has just launched for 328 newly-constructed Compass III residences at 1560 Boone Avenue, Crotona Park East and 101 East 173rd Street in Mount Hope, Bronx. In 2011 the West Farms Redevelopment Plan for the 17-acre, 11-block former industrial area in Crotona Park East by Dattner Architects became the largest Bronx rezoning ever passed. When complete, the complex will offer 1,325 units of affordable housing along with retail and community facilities. City overhauls Mitchell-Lama middle income housing program with increased oversight

Citing bribery, fraud and other abuses and years-long waiting lists, New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development has restructured the Mitchell-Lama program, one of the New York City's oldest middle-income housing initiatives, the Wall Street Journal reports. Included in the restructuring effort will be the integration of the program's application process into Housing Connect, the city's existing affordable housing lottery, within the next year.

Applications are currently being accepted to replenish the wait list for middle-income apartments at a Tribeca rental building. The 12-story tower at 89 Murray Street, dubbed Washington Mews, was constructed in 2007 and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill's Mustafa Abadan. Qualifying New Yorkers must earn 175 percent of the area median income to apply for the $2,832/month two-bedrooms and $3,213/month three-bedrooms. While these prices rightfully seem steep, market rate two-bedrooms at the same building currently start at just under $6,000/month.

The anticipated 805-foot condo tower currently rising in Nomad at 15 East 30th Street—dubbed Madison House—has just unveiled a teaser website and new renderings to give us a peek of the project, inside and out. The 62-story building was designed by Handel Architects, and Gachot Studios will be helming the interior design. Having already topped out, sales are expected to launch in September, including a range of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom residences and an expansive duplex penthouse with a private terrace and elevator entry.

FXCollaborative’s skinny FiDi school-condo tower reveals new looks and launches sales

Sales at Trinity Place Holding’s new condominium tower at 77 Greenwich Street have officially launched, and a new batch of renderings are offering us a look inside the elegant residences. Designed by FXCollaborative, the 42-story high-rise will comprise 90 residential units on top of a new public elementary school. Though it hasn’t topped out yet, the finished building will hit 500 feet in height. The residences begin on the 15th floor and will feature sprawling river views with prices starting at $1,780,000 for a one-bedroom unit.

Developer bets on seniors in the city with luxury assisted living tower on the Upper West Side

Betting that well-heeled seniors want to stay in the city as they age–and are willing to pay accordingly–developers Welltower, Inc. and Hines have purchased a pair of Manhattan building lots with the intent of building an assisted living tower for frail and memory-challenged seniors who want to stay in the neighborhood. Rising on two lots at 2330 Broadway at 85th Street will be the partnership's second luxury assisted living facility in the borough, Bloomberg reports. The 17-story residence will offer a spa, a rooftop garden and a “bistro” for cocktails and card games.
